Service Volunteers play a key role in carrying out the mission of Youth Engagement Services (YES) Network Pakistan/PNYS. Volunteering is, of course, not new. What is new is the concept of Youth Service which involves young people in-particular at-risk, socially-excluded and vulnerable young people meaningfully, intensely and structurally for helping them to rise out of anonymity and re-brand their image within their communities as the most promising resource available to meet personal and societal needs. Youth Engagement Services (YES) Network Pakistan/PNYS involved young people for a period of one-year. We believe young people represent a huge untapped human resource, which in the past has been largely under utilized and under valued. Youth Engagement Services (YES) Network Pakistan/PNYS looks upon every young person as a potential volunteer.

Youth Engagement Services (YES) Network Pakistan/PNYS offers three types of membership to volunteers. These include: Individual, Organizational and Enrolment of Functional Committee Membership. The duration of the membership is one year which can be renewed each year depending on the commitment, interest and availability for doing volunteer service.

Individual Membership is open to all citizens of all ages irrespective of class, creed and religion subject to the condition that the individual agrees with the objectives of Youth Engagement Services (YES) Network Pakistan/PNYS. Youth Engagement Services (YES) Network Pakistan/PNYS also provides leadership opportunities to individual members to become Youth Engagement Services (YES) Network Pakistan/PNYS Managing Representative at local level in order to take responsibility to foster volunteer spirit among other people. The membership can be terminated if any member is found working against the goals and spirit of National Youth Service. The membership responsibilities include the submission of monthly activity report.

Organizational Membership is open to all CBOs and NGOs who agrees with the goals of Youth Engagement Services (YES) Network Pakistan/PNYS and are willing to promote and support the movement of Youth Engagement Services (YES) Network Pakistan/PNYS.

Functional Committee is a self reliant entity at grassroots level. It consists of 15 to 25 members between the ages of 15-29 years. They participate in the decision making processes of Youth Engagement Services (YES) Network Pakistan/PNYS. Each Functional Committee elects one representative to the Provincial Committee who inturn elects five representatives to National Committee of Youth Engagement Services (YES) Network Pakistan/PNYS. The bottom planning process of Youth Engagement Services (YES) Network Pakistan/PNYS starts from Functional Committee which identifies its own needs, prioritizes and plans activities on self help basis/aided self help. The decisions are made with consensus or at least with majority vote. It promotes democratic values and an atmosphere of trust.

After recruiting volunteers, Youth Engagement Services (YES) Network Pakistan/PNYS provides them orientation to give the general information about Youth Engagement Services (YES) Network Pakistan/PNYS and the specific information about the expected role and responsibilities of the volunteer position. Orientation helps volunteers feel confident and prepared.

Youth Engagement Services (YES) Network Pakistan/PNYS after recruiting the volunteers take oath from them that they will sincerely do their duty and will not commit any action that is against the goals and spirit of Pakistan National Youth Service. The Oath Taking Ceremony is celebrated collectively by a minimum of 100 volunteers.

Volunteer's progress is monitored regularly with a view to provide them timely support and technical assistance. It is also ensured that they are doing their work efficiently.

Youth Engagement Services (YES) Network Pakistan/PNYS adopts various communication channels to disseminate information about Youth Engagement Services (YES) Network Pakistan/PNYS and attract volunteers for it. These include:

• Word of Mouth
• Distribution of brochures
• Cable Network
• ICTs

Youth Engagement Services (YES) Network Pakistan/PNYS acknowledges the services of its volunteers by offering periodic awards to individuals and groups. Awards generally include:

• Certificates
• T-shirts
• Awards
• Prizes
• Appreciation letters
