6) Concerts for Children
|
Youth Service Volunteers has organized several concerts for earthquake-affected children with the objectives
of providing entertaining, motivating and fun opportunities to them. It was observed that children were very
terrified and scared after experiencing the devastating impact of earthquake on them, on their families and
on their communities. The beauty of the concerts was that many of the sessions were facilitated by the
children themselves. During concerts, children presented many role plays, poems, stories, jokes and poetry
to lift up the morale and confidence of other children. The concerts were attended by all segments of
population. The concerts helped in breaking the ice and zones of isolation for children as many of the
children joined service centers being run by our service volunteers after the concerts. Local service
volunteers generated resources from within their communities to organize these concerts.

Commemoration Day
|
Youth Service volunteers organized first anniversary of 8th October tragic events to pay our tribute and express
our solidarity to the heroism and sacrifice of those we lost and those who have survived. The ceremony was
used as a vehicle to demonstrate our continued love, care and a sense of belonging with the earthquake
affected people. The ceremony was attended by representatives from public and private sectors in addition to
local community members. During the ceremony, service volunteers expressed their feelings and experiences of
joining youth service program as well as their contributions in addressing challenges being faced by their
communities. The local community members and representatives from public and private sector congratulated all
service volunteers for their meritorious services. The presence of all these people serves as a great
confidence-developer and morale-booster for youth, who have so courageously embarked on their journey of
self–determination. During the ceremony, Pakistan National Youth Service also acknowledged the contributions
of active service volunteers by bestowing them upon with awards.
