Institutional Dimensions of the Pakistan National Youth Service Program

Access:
It provides access to all young people especially living in low-income communities between the ages of 10-29.

Teamwork:
It encourages youth to work together as a team by building up an indigenous Youth Service Network.

Gender Sensitiveness:
It provides opportunity to all young people especially female youth living in rural areas.

Incentive:
It provides young people trainings, tools, financial resources, recognition and connections to transform themselves from victims to leaders.

Time Commitment:
The interested youth is required to dedicate one year of their lives collectively (30 hours or more per week from each Youth Service Network).

Revenue Generation:
Pakistan National Youth Service Program encourages its local Youth Service Networks to generate revenue by charging a nominal service fee.

Democratic Principles:
Pakistan National Youth Service Program promotes democratic spirit and principles among youth. Each Youth Service Network is required to elects its leaders, deputy leaders and treasurers for a period of one year.

Decentralization, Experimentation and Independence:
Pakistan National Youth Service Program promotes decentralization, experimentation and independence among youth. It encourages youth to take complete responsibility for designing, implementing and monitoring service projects. The young people are provided freedom to choose their area of service.

Service Oriented:
It emphasizes youth to learn and serve.

Responsive:
Pakistan National Youth Service Program is responsive to community needs identified and addressed through local youth.

Integrative:
Pakistan National Youth Service Program assures that youth synchronize and coordinate the current developmental activities of public and private organizations.
