YES Network Pakistan organized a wide range of activities to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week in Pakistan throughout the month of November. A wide range of activities were carried out to stimulate and promote Youth Social Entrepreneurship. The major events which were carried out during the GEW include Youth Social Entrepreneurship workshop, Enterprise Challenge, Induction Workshop, Poster Competition and a series of indigenous events at the community based outlets of YES Network Pakistan.

British High Commissioner Robert Brinkley and his wife graced with their presence Youth Social Entrepreneurship workshop in Mirpur organized by YES Network Pakistan and British Council. The workshop was held from 11th to 13th November 2009. The workshop was organized to train and equip young people with entrepreneurial knowledge and skills as well as to enable them to participate in the enterprise challenge competition during the Global Entrepreneurship Week 2009. During the workshop, an innovation market place was also organized to showcase the projects of seven selected teams of AJK. Speaking at the occasion, British High Commissioner appreciated the efforts of YES in promoting youth social entrepreneurship in the country.

Sensitization Sessions held on Youth Social Entrepreneurship with the Principals of the Technical Institutions

YES Network Pakistan in collaboration with British Council and NAVTEC organized two sensitization and training sessions with the Principals of 60 technical colleges. The workshops were held in Lahore and Mirpur on 10th November 2009. During the workshops, principals/lead teachers were provided knowledge and skills about youth social entrepreneurship. The participants were also provided training in designing and implementing youth-led projects. All the participants were very enthusiastic to learn about youth social entrepreneurship. The participants ranked the workshops very high and strongly recommended to others.

YES Network Pakistan held nationwide open sessions on the topic of "Youth Social Entrepreneurship".

YES Network Pakistan held nationwide open sessions on the topic of "Youth Social Entrepreneurship" for the principals/lead teachers of over 400 technical colleges in collaboration with British Council and NAVTEC. The purpose of the sessions was to sensitize the principals/lead teachers about the concept of Youth Social Entrepreneurship and to share with them Enterprise Challenge Award 2009. The sessions were held in Islamabad, Karachi and Quetta. The sessions have created a lot of enthusiasm among principals to integrate Youth Social Entrepreneurship program in their institutions. Ali speaks at the National University of Singapore (NUS) on "Youth Social Entrepreneurship".

The Social Entrepreneurship Forum for Youths (SEFFY) was jointly organized by NUS Business School's Centre for Social Entrepreneurship and Philanthropy (CSEP) and NUS’ University Scholars Club (USC). The event was attended by youths aged 17-25. The event was organized to introduce the topic of youth social entrepreneurship to youth and to promote entrepreneurial spirit among youth. Three young entrepreneurs were invited to share their programs, stories and accomplishments with the young people for inspiring them to embrace innovation and imagination in addressing issues that are affecting the world. Launching of "Bridging Digital Divide" Project

YES Network Pakistan has launched the "Bridging Digital Divide" project to assist teachers and principals of leading schools in acquiring brand new laptops. This project has been launched to fill the vacuum existing in the area of ICTs in schools. During the first phase, YES trained the teachers of the schools in basic ICTs skills and in the second phase YES has launched this project to ensure the access of ICT technology to the teachers involved in the trainings.

Sad demise of Mr. Mansoor-ul-Hassan Bhatti

We express great grief over the sad demise of our honorable Program Manager Monitoring and Evaluation, Mr. Mansoor-ul-Hassan Bhatti. He was the great asset of the organization. May God rest his soul in peace. YES Network Pakistan will never forget his contributions for the organization and for the development of the youth.

Ali speaks at the Expert Group Meeting in Islamabad

Ali speaks at the Expert Group Meeting in Islamabad organized by UNIFEM and Planning Commission of Pakistan on July 1, 2009. The purpose of the meeting was to share six promising strategies selected by UNIFEM and Planning Commision for promotion of education. YES Network Pakistan's Model of Youth Service was selected as one of the six models.The meeting was chaired by Advisor to Prime Minister Miss. Shehnaz Wazir Ali. The other prominenet government functionaires who attended the meeting include Deputy Chairman Planning Sardar Asif Ali and Secretaries of different government departments.In addition to that, several UN agencies, international organization and NGOs attended the meeting.

An emergency project launched for the children of IDPs

YES Network Pakistan has launched a project to provide shelter, relief, care and education services to the children of internally displaced families. YES Network Pakistan has created a local service delivery mechanism by mainstreaming young educated girls of the internally displaced families for providing these services. Service Learning project launched in the leading Catholic Schools

YES Network Pakistan has launched Service Learning program for the first time in the educational institutions of Pakistan. YES Network Pakistan has been conducting sensitization sessions with the principals of the leading schools for the integration of the Service Learning concept. Recently, the Catholic Board of Lahore has approved the implementation of Service Learning program. YES Network Pakistan has trained and engaged over 350 teachers in the designing and implementation of Service Learning projects. For more information, please visit the following link.

ICT Training Program launched for the teachers

YES Network Pakistan has launched an ICT training program to eqiup teachers and youth with basic ICTs skills. In this regard, over 300 teachers have been trained to use ICT as a tool for personal development and for training young students with ICT skills.
